Astrophotography: From the Basics to Masterpieces

The night sky has always held a special fascination for us humans. But what exactly makes astrophotography so captivating? Is it the celestial objects themselves, the experience of being outdoors, or perhaps the technology that makes the invisible visible? Let’s find out together. We—the four photographers Stefan Liebermann, Eugen Kamenew, Nicholas Roemmelt, and Jakob Sahner—will take you on a photographic journey through the night.

Using specific projects as examples, we’ll show you how you too can capture stunning images. Together, we’ll learn the basics, familiarize ourselves with the necessary equipment, and draw inspiration from a wide range of photographic ideas. The subjects range from simple astro-landscapes to panoramas and deep-sky objects, all the way to special celestial events like the aurora borealis or lunar eclipses. So whether you’re new to the world of astrophotography or already have some experience, there’s something for everyone in our workshops, which are offered at various skill levels. And along the way, you’ll also learn what drives us as authors.
