Astrophotography in Namibia

Namibia is one of the most impressive places I have ever photographed under the night sky. Its vast desert landscapes, exceptionally dark skies and strong astro-tourism infrastructure make it a dream destination for astrophotography.

About this collection

This gallery brings together selected astrophotography images captured during my journey through Namibia, a country widely known for its exceptionally dark skies, dry climate and remote desert landscapes. With very low levels of light pollution across large parts of the country, Namibia offers some of the best conditions for night-sky photography in the world.

What makes Namibia especially unique for astrophotography is the combination of clear desert air, wide open horizons and access to locations that are already well established for astro-tourism. Several lodges and astrofarms are specifically built around observing and photographing the night sky, making it possible to travel through the country with astrophotography as a central focus.

For me, this journey was built around capturing the southern night sky in a way that is simply not possible from Central Europe. From the bright core of the Milky Way to deep-sky regions, desert foregrounds and wide-field nightscapes, Namibia offered the kind of darkness, atmosphere and scale that make every clear night feel special.

The images shown here represent some of my strongest work from that trip, captured under remote skies and shaped by the unique landscapes, silence and clarity of the Namibian night.
