About Me

Astrophotographer, night-sky storyteller and creator of Astro Tools.

Behind the camera

My name is Jakob Sahner, and I am an astrophotographer from the Black Forest in Germany.

I grew up near Freiburg in the Markgräflerland region and started photography in 2017 while training to become a photo and media technical assistant. What began as general photography quickly turned into a fascination with the night sky.

After discovering astrophotography through tutorials and videos, I was immediately hooked. Since then, I have spent countless nights under dark skies, learning from mistakes, testing equipment and improving my processing workflow one project at a time.

My work has taken me from the Alps and Iceland to La Palma and Namibia, always searching for darker skies, stronger compositions and new ways to capture the universe above us.
